Why Celtic Whistles?
Enjoy the traditional sound of a Low-D Whistle as you play your favorite tune. I recall the excitement of purchasing my first Low-D Whistle costing me over $150. I then waiting for several weeks for it to be imported to the US. My first thought in receiving it, they shouldn’t be this expensive and take so long to get. That was in 2005 and that is when I started Celtic Whistles and began building whistles that not only easily affordable for anyone but could be shipped quickly to a US address.
Celtic Whistles Traditional Design.
The Big Black Whistle is our latest design. It is a single color in Hammered Black. We built this whistle specificly for those that couldn’t quite afford one of our custom finishes or for people that just like a plain black color.
Materials used are light weight but durable
The body and exterior mouthpiece are constructed of a single high pressure thin wall synthetic polymer. This makes them lightweight but durable. The fipple block is made from a hardwood plug.
Non-Tunable
These whistles are tuned during their construction. Just like the original Irish Penny Whistles, these are non-tunable once constructed to maintain their unique tone. We actually prefer non-tunable whistles as you can enjoy more time playing instead of fiddling with an instrument trying to get the exact tone.
Made in America
My family immigrated to America from Ireland in the 1700’s. I have always enjoyed the opportunity to share in my origin countries heritage by listing to and playing traditional Irish music. Our hope is that by playing one of our Celtic Whistles you can capture some those pleasures.
